God stopped the sun and moon for a whole day to help Joshua in the war against the 5 Amorite kings
There are countless small miracles around us that are part of our daily lives and we do not even perceive or give due importance. The germinate of a plant, for example, stopped to think deeply, is a miracle, just like all nature around us. But some miracles of the Creator are immense in the strict sense of the word! And because they are so great they have drawn the attention of all mankind for generations and generations. This is the case of the day GOD STOPPED THE SUN AND THE MOON, reported on Joshua 10:1-15.
Joshua came from victorious wars, leading the important city of Gabaon to make peace with him and the Israelites. Fearful of this agreement, the five kings of the Amans were urged to attack Gabaon. Upon taking note of the situation, Joshua gathered his army and set off for Guilgal to attack them by surprise. To keep his spirits up against the mighty armies he would face, God already anticipates victory by saying:
God: "Fear not them, for I have delivered them into your hands; none of them can resist you."
And so it happened. The armies of the five kings tried to escape the strong defeat the Israelites imposed on them by descending bet-horon to Azeca and Maceda. But the battle was almost until the end of the day. Worried about slaughtering the entire opposing army in time, before they managed to escape in the darkness of the night, Joshua cries out in prayer:
"Sun, stop at Gabaon, and thou, O moon, in the valley of Aialon!" And the SUN AND MOON STOOD STILL IN THE SKY, motionless, for a whole day until the Israelites exterminated their enemies. God even helped by releasing hailthat killed more than Joshua's own army.
The existence of a single day with twice the time is found in the archaeological records and legends of various peoples and cultures around the world, including in the Americas (which would still be discovered only 3000 years later). No other day has his time changed for as long as this, as the Bible itself reports, for God was fighting for Israel.
Some scientists, embarrassingly, seek absurd technical explanations for this biblical passage in an attempt to nullify God's power as to his ability to do the impossible (i.e., miracles!). But He is God because he is ALMIGHTY and EVERYTHING CAN DO, without explanation, including stopping the sun. What in our eyes and understanding is impossible, for God becomes possible with a simple blink of His Eyes. It is only up to us to believe, trust and ask!
In our modern times we already know that the earth revolves around the sun, but obviously in the distant times of the Old Testament there was no such understanding. So it was right for Joshua to ask that the sun stop and not the rotation of the earth. Despite this, we have no way of knowing if God stopped for one day the gravitational relationship of the earth with the sun, if he stopped the entire solar system or even stopped the whole universe - since all celestial bodies are in interaction. Arguing about it is pointless. Only in heaven will we know exactly how this fantastic miracle happened.
But what we know and understand is that God answered a one-man prayer by doing one of the greatest miracles ever in human history and in the Bible. So great, the final verses of this miraculous passage states that "Never before nor has there been a day like that."
This verse was written approximately 3,500 years ago and there really were no more reports of a day with almost 48 hours. But reached the year 1917 A.D. (about 3400 years later) Our Lady presented her three secrets at Fatima proving them with the Miracle of the Sun (READ ABOUT CLICKING HERE), of magnitude equivalent to what occurred in the times of Joshua, in the presence of tens of thousands of people and journalists who documented it . In this miracle there was no relation to the prolongation of time, but the sun turned in the heavens, approached the earth almost touching it, changed color, flashed, etc. If understanding how God stopped the sun or the universe in the Old Testament is impossible for us, imagine understanding this other great miracle with the star of our constellation? The important thing is to understand that the magnitude of the miracle represents the importance of the secrets and the urgency of the times in which we live, in which we need to live the messages of Our Mother Mary. Additionally, Our Lady has made the sun blink and change shape in countless of her appearances around the world in this generation of ours. Coincidence? No. Providence? Yes!
