The miracle of the bees of Saint Rita of Cascia

Some saints God has begun to prepare them from an early childhood, but in the case of Saint Rita de Cássia, his predestination was already explicit when he was still a baby, or rather, when he was not even born!

Yes, that's right. His parents, Antônio Lotti and Amatta Ferra, were already in old age and could not have children. They prayed much to God to realize this dream and to complete the happiness of the couple, who were greatly esteemed in the community for their work, actions of evangelization and help to others. God heard and granted them in 1381, already of advanced age for both, an admirable girl in the city of Cassia. Begin the wonders of the newborn saint!

But another miraculous event as admirable as this still in its first months of life was the fact that her parents left the little newborn in a basket under the shadows of the trees, safely, so they could work in the garden. But one day, a swarm of white bees began to move to the child, which caught the attention of a local worker who ran to the little one to help her, but came across two miracles:

The bees entered and came out of the baby's mouth, depositing honey on her lips, without stinging her, leaving her very cheerful and smiling. However, the worker still frightened by the possibility of the bees killing her, began to try to scare them with his hand, which had previously hurt and spouted blood. But his hand was instantly healed as he tried to get the bees away from the child!

This miracle of the white bees still extends to the day of today, because prodigiously through the intercession of St. Rita, during the holy week until May 22 (the day of the saint herself) a swarm of white bees heads to the walls of the monastery where she spent her last years. After this period the bees withdraw and return the following year on the same date.
