Rebecca Athayde's testimony about the miracles that occurred in the six months of her baby Mateus' life

Reflection by Rebeca's husband, Matthew's father:

"When I see everything that has happened, the following feeling comes over me... It's as if Jesus were saying to me: "Imagine your son back, in your arms, but nothing has happened. No conversion, no changed life, no miracle. Or this: him (the baby) with me, so many lives converted, so many lives changed, so many miracles. What would you choose? And Rebeca's husband concludes: I wouldn't be able to choose anything other than that! (her baby Matthew being with Jesus).

And Rebeca remembers very well a metaphor (or parable) said by Padre Pio. On one occasion, many children drowned in a boat that sank. He was asked why God had allowed this? With tears in his eyes, the holy priest replied:

"Imagine a child sitting on the floor and seeing above his mother knitting a piece of fabric. Looking underneath and behind, the child sees nothing but a tangle of disconnected and mixed-up threads. But when you look above, you understand: a beautiful linen fabric has been formed". Here on earth we are the child seeing the fabric from behind and sometimes not understanding where that sequence of threads (events) will end up or what will form (happen). God is watching the fabric being made from the front and knows exactly how beautiful it will be in the end.
