The great scientists, geniuses and thinkers who have passed through history, holders of notable accumulated knowledge, at a certain point in their lives end up seeing the obvious through science itself and cannot deny it: God made all things! Their reports that we will show are very clear in this sense.
So make no mistake brothers, we are infinitely complex beings, a true stellar puzzle (since we are star dust) formed by 7 octillion pieces, that is, atoms. This equals the number 7,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (7 with 27 trailing zeros) . Not even the sum of the intelligence of all the geniuses that have emerged throughout history would be able to "develop a human being" if we could put them together for this activity.
Let's take a very clear example: imagine a painting by the artist Michelangelo. Then someone tells you that this work was randomly created in the middle of discarded paints next to a whiteboard. Wouldn't you think it was the craziest thing you ever heard? Even if you randomly threw paint over trillions of whiteboards for billions of years, would it ever result by simple chance in a painting equal to that of this renowned painter? Of course not. Our existence is the same thing, but on an infinitely greater scale of complexity compared to painting a picture, making the possibility of being the work of chance a completely null percentage.
Reason and the obvious make it clear to us that we are the fruit of the hands of God, the great Artist who made us as well as the entire universe and nature. We clearly see the invisible Creator by His inexpressible and magnificent visible works, which are proportionate to His greatness . Chance, in the opposite sense, doesn't even know whether it's going left or right, it can't make the smallest of decisions, it could never create the smallest of bacteria.
Biologist B. Vollmert explains that the probability that a molecule of ribonucleic acid (which gives rise to life in cells) randomly forms is 1/(10 10,000 ). For science, the probability of 1/(10 50 ) is already considered null . In the opposite direction, Fred Hoyle, a British astronomer, calculated that the probability that God exists is 10 40,000 , which is a certainty .
But regardless of mathematics, there is a simple fact to be considered before anything else: matter cannot arise from nothing, because if NOTHING, NOTHING IS, then NOTHING CAN DO. There must be a Creator of boundless power to start it all and guide this infinite creation that is the universe, human beings, animals and all of nature. The bible itself tells us in the books of Romans and Wisdom that when we see the physical creation of God, we will be inexcusable before Him if we do not believe in Him:
Romans 1:20. "Since the creation of the world, the invisible perfections of God, his eternal power and Godhead, are made visible to the understanding by his works; so that they cannot be excused."
Wisdom 13:1. “ All those who did not know God and, through visible goods, did not know how to know who he is, nor recognize the artist, considering his works, are foolish by nature.”
So if someone tells you that only scientists with a Harvard PhD are able to reflect on our existence, IT IS A BIG LIE . God has given everyone more than enough intelligence to understand His existence through His created works, including ourselves. Look at a child's face: only a fool doesn't see God's work in him.
Returning then to the initial reasoning: if for all of us who have an "average" intelligence (if we can say so) it is clear that we are the result of God's creation, imagine for a great scientist who dedicated his whole life to studying the mysteries of this creation ? For the answer is: YES, most scientific geniuses became Christians . In these cases, in particular, reason led them to faith! See their fascinating stories below. Note that they are from the most varied areas of science: mathematics, physics, geology, botany, engineering, chemistry, astronomy, zoology, psychoanalysis, etc. Let's start with the greatest of them all, Albert Einstein :
“Every profound researcher of nature must conceive a kind of religious feeling, since he cannot admit that he is the first to perceive the extraordinarily beautiful groups of beings that he contemplates. In the universe, incomprehensible as it is, a superior and limitless intelligence is manifest . The current opinion that I am an atheist is based on a great misconception. Whoever wanted to deduce it from my scientific theories would not have understood my thought”.
Isaac Newton , one of the greatest physicists in history, reported the greatest discovery of his lifetime:
“The wonderful arrangement and harmony of the universe could only have originated according to the plan of an all-knowing and all-powering Being. This remains my last and highest discovery”.
William Herschel (1738-1822), German astronomer, describes that the sciences generate unequivocal proofs of God:
“The more the field of natural science expands, the more numerous and irrefutable the proofs of the eternal existence of a creative and all-powerful Wisdom become”.
André Marie Ampére (1755-1836), French physicist and mathematician, responsible for the law of electrodynamics (and for the term "amperage"), offers his view as the greatest proof of the existence of a Creator:
"The most persuasive demonstration of the existence of God can be seen from the evident harmony of those means that ensure the order of the universe and by which living beings find in their organism everything they need for their subsistence, their reproduction and the development of their lives. physical and spiritual virtualities"
Thomas Edison , inventor of the light bulb and holder of 2000 patents, put it bluntly and simply:
“I have […] enormous respect and the highest admiration for all engineers, especially for the greatest of them: God!”.
Alessandro Volta (1745-1827), inventor of the battery and responsible for the emergence of the term "voltage", makes it clear that with reason one can find faith:
“I subjected the fundamental truths of the faith to a profound study, and […] in this way I found eloquent testimonies that make religion credible to those who use only their reason”.
Karl Friedrich Gauss (1777-1855), German, named by several scientists as the greatest mathematician in history, in addition to being an astronomer and physicist, reports his presentiment of God in the exercise of his scientific activities:
“When our last hour strikes, we will have the indescribable joy of seeing Him whom in our work we could only foresee”.
Agustin-Louis Cauchy (1789-1857), another mathematician (French), who was responsible for the development of infinitesimal calculus, reports his faith equivalent to that of other great scientists in history:
"I am a Christian , that is, I believe in the divinity of Christ like Tycho Brahe, Copernicus, Descartes, Newton, Leibniz, Pascal (...), like all the great astronomers and mathematicians of antiquity"
William Thompson Kelvin (1824-1907), British physicist, known as the father of thermodynamics and discoverer of numerous laws of nature, said that nature provided us with amazing testimonies of God's creation:
“We are surrounded by astonishing testimonies of intelligence and benevolent planning ; they show us throughout all nature the work of a free will, and teach us that all living beings are dependent on an eternal Creator and Lord.”
HC Oersted (1777-1851), Danish physicist, discoverer of one of the laws of Electromagnetism, follows the same reasoning:
“Each profound analysis of Nature leads to the knowledge of God”.
Carl Gustav Jung (1975-1961), Swiss, helped found Psychoanalysis, explains that only with an encounter with God can people's problems be solved:
“Among all my patients in the second half of life, that is, being over thirty-five, there was only one whose deepest problem was not constituted by the question of his religious attitude. All, in the last resort, were sick for having lost what a living religion always gave to its adherents, and none was cured without recovering the religious attitude that was proper to him”
Ernest Werner Von Siemens (1816-1892), German engineer and inventor of electrical technology, explains that the grandeur of nature teaches us to be humble before God and his wisdom:
“The deeper we penetrate the dynamic harmony of nature, the more we feel inspired to an attitude of modesty and humility ; (...) and the more our admiration for the infinite Wisdom, which penetrates all creatures, rises."
James Prescott Joule (1818-1889), British physicist, scientist of heat and electromagnetism. Discovered Joule's law, named after him, he also reports the exposure of God's wisdom in the phenomena he studies:
“We come across a great variety of phenomena which (...) in unmistakable language speak of the wisdom and blessed hand of the Great Master of works.”
Jons Jacob Berzelius (1779-1848), Swedish chemist, discoverer of several chemical elements, in the same way as Siemens and Joule, writes about the relationship between nature and the revelation of Divine wisdom:
“Everything that relates to organic nature reveals a wise purpose and presents itself as a product of a Superior Intelligence (...). Man (...) is led to consider his capacities to think and calculate as an image of that Being to whom he owes his existence.”
Ph. V. Martius (1794-1868), German botanist, state that scientists should be the first to be spiritual beings in the face of the testimonies of nature that they face every day:
“Our age is too ready to admit that scientists profess materialism (...), that they lack the sensitivity to listen to the warnings given to them by the spiritual foundations of many things . Yet who should and could learn them better than they?”
C. Lyell (1797-1875), English geologist and developer of modern geology, complements Martius' previous idea:
“Whatever direction our investigations take, we discover everywhere evident evidence of a creative intelligence, of his Providence, of his wisdom and power .”
- H. Madler (1794-1874), German astronomer, completes the aforementioned conceptions of Martius and Lyell:
“A serious scientist cannot deny the existence of God, for whoever, like him, can penetrate so deeply into His workshop and admire His Wisdom , can only kneel before the greatness of the Divine Spirit.”
Edwin Couklin (1863-1952), American biologist, offers another simple comparative example of chance not generating any life:
“To want to explain by chance the origin of life on Earth is the same as hoping that a complete dictionary could be the result of an exploding typography”
C.M. Hathaway (1902), American physicist and engineer, inventor of the electronic brain, declares that modern physics cannot accept chance:
"Modern physics teaches us that nature is incapable of organizing itself . The universe presents a great organization. That is why a Great First Cause is necessary"
Arthur Eddington (1882-1946), British physicist and astronomer, offers another account associating modern physics with God:
"Modern physics necessarily leads us to God"
Guglielmo Marconi (1874-1937), Italian physicist, inventor of wireless telegraphy and 1909 Nobel Prize, declares his faith and prayer life:
“I proudly declare that I am a man of faith. I believe in the power of prayer. I believe this not only as a faithful Christian, but also as a scientist.”
H. Spemann (1869-1941), German zoologist, Nobel Prize 1935, admires God with the results of his research:
“I want to confess that, during my research, I often have the impression of being in a dialogue in which my interlocutor appears to me as the One who is much wiser . Faced with this extraordinary reality... the researcher is always more taken by a profound and reverent admiration”.
John Ambrose Flemig (1849-1945), British physicist argues that the evolution of sciences leads to the Creator:
“The mass of modern discoveries has completely destroyed the old materialism. The universe presents itself to our gaze today as a thought. Now, thought presupposes the existence of a thinker .”
Allan Sandage (1926-2010), an American astronomer, complements Flemig's reasoning by associating the sciences with the supernatural of God:
"It was my science that led me to the conclusion that the universe is too complex to be explained by science. It is only through the supernatural that I can understand the mystery of existence ."
