Brazil already had more than one “Priest Pio” in its lands. That's right! Today we will deal with the (German) Jesuit priest João Baptista Reus (his surname reads “Róis”). Just like the Italian holy father, our priest was also surrounded by numerous mystical events he had the stigmata of Christ (one of the very few stigmatized priests in Christian history), he levitated (including during masses with hundreds of eyewitnesses), he went into ecstasies, he had visions of angels, of São Miguel Archangel, of Our Lady and of the Holy Trinity, interceded with God for countless miracles to his parishioners, was heavily persecuted and performed many signs extraordinary, even stopping a huge hailstorm!
Priest Reus was sent to Brazil on a mission in 1900. He held various positions: director of the Marian Congregation in Porto Alegre, professor of liturgy and theology in seminaries and schools, as well as a priest in Rio Grande, Porto Alegre and São Leopoldo - all in the Rio Grande do Sul. To this day he has interceded in heaven for people all over Brazil, but naturally he is better known in the southern region of the country, where he was a missionary.
It should be noted that in the evangelization of Brazil after its discovery in 1500, there were other priests on mission in our Tupiniquim lands with great mystical abilities offered by God such as those of Padre Pio and Padre Reus who were fundamental in the conversions of the indigenous people and the dissemination of Christianity by the Latin America (equivalent to the massive conversion of indigenous peoples by the miraculous Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico - read about it by CLICKING HERE ). The best known Jesuit around here was St. José de Anchieta- who resembles even more the contemporary Padre Pio in the portentous miracles he performed. But due to the greater lack of documentation at the time and the great temporal distance, the actions of these Jesuit priests are little publicized and known.
Priest Reus died in 1947 with a reputation for holiness and since 1953 his beatification process has been underway, under all the rigor required by the Vatican (see the stages of his process by CLICKING HERE) . His tomb is located in the Sagrado Coração de Jesus Sanctuary in São Leopoldo / RS. Pilgrimages to the Sanctuary reach 1.5 million people a year, many to thank for the miracles achieved through their intercession. Details of his life and mysticism can be read in several books published about his biography, as well as in journalistic publications.
In this post we will discuss his testimony of a vision he had about the supernatural actions that take place in all Holy Masses. God has given knowledge of the infinite value of the Holy Mass to various saints through visions that complement and fascinate each other deeply. As Padre Pio would say:
“The world can exist without the sun, but never without the sacrifice of the Mass”.
In his diary, the priest gave a detailed description of his testimony obtained in vision by private revelation of the supernatural events of the Holy Mass. See the following video on the mysteries of the mass (the Veil Removed) adapted with the main passages written by the priest (in Spanish) Right after the original video without the texts of the priest (disclosed widely on national and international Catholic channels), followed by Full written description of the priest:

"Our Lady invites all of Paradise to participate in the Holy Mass, and all the angels and saints follow her in a wonderful procession to the altar. The saints form a semi-circle around the celebrating priest and accompany him to the altar, angels stand behind the saints.
Another crowd of angels surrounds the church and covers the faithful, preventing the demons from approaching during the Holy Mass, in honor of the majesty of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Blessed Virgin is always near the celebrant, on the side of the altar where water and wine are served, and where the priest's hands are washed. It is the Mother of Jesus herself who serves the celebrant and washes his hands. Between Our Lady and the celebrant, the saint of the day is invited.
All souls in Purgatory are also invited by the Virgin Mary and remain during the entire Holy Mass at the foot of the altar, between the celebrant and the faithful.
In the sublime moment of consecration, when these souls see Our Lord Jesus Christ in Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity, they feel an uncontrollable desire to get out of those flames and throw themselves into His arms, but they cannot, because they are not yet purified.
After the Consecration, the release from Purgatory of souls that have already reached purification takes place. Our Lady extends her hand to each one of them and says: "My (My) daughter, may you come up".
At the time of the prayer for Peace, the angels greet the souls released from Purgatory, embracing them . It is a moment of immense joy and beauty. Then these souls, resplendent with indescribable beauty, adorned like brides, like angels, are ushered triumphantly into Paradise by a multitude of angels, to the sound of heavenly music and chants."
O God, who by your infinite goodness and mercy inspired your humble servant John Baptist with such an ardent desire for perfection and bestowed upon him so many and so extraordinary favors, grant me the grace to imitate you in total surrender to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in the love of the cross and sacrifice, esteem for the Holy Mass, intimacy with Jesus in the Sacrament, zeal for priestly vocations and filial devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mediatrix of all graces.
O God, who glorifies the one who glorifies Your servant John Baptist, who in life loved and glorified You, granting me, through his intercession, the grace... that I instantly ask of You. By Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
JESUS! MARIA! JOSEPH!
Our Father - Hail Mary - Glory to the Father.
